Letter From the President Spring 2007
This year we are holding the ceremony on the U of W Campus, Seattle ,in the Husky Student Union Building, Sunday, May 6 at 3 pm. Prior to the ceremony, there will be Poster Presentations from the member schools and refreshments. There should be plenty of parking at no cost. Our inspirational speaker is Shirley Aiken, Professor Pacific Lutheran University. Psi Chapter-at-Large participated in Strides Against Breast Cancer, a 5K walk this past autumn. In support of clinician research, Psi Chapter co-sponsored the Evidence Based Practice clinical conference with the Evidence Based Practice Consortium during winter. Each year, Psi Chapter awards research grants each year to advance the science of nursing. This year, Susan Sikma, RN PhD received one of the grants. Her research focuses on analyzing best practice in nursing education for persons with English as a second language based on a program used at one area institution. Two of our STTI Board members have been accepted to present at STTI this summer in Vienna: Melba Kattner and Elizabeth Bridges. Finally, the slate of officers has been finalized and you should be getting a note and a return postcard in the mail soon. Some of our members made a contribution to STTI in honor of Nancy Dickenson-Hazard, STTI Executive Director who is retiring. Thank you for your contributions and support of the advancement of nursing through STTI. When I visited STTI headquarters in autumn 2005, I could sense the positive work environment in the offices; all the staff that I met spoke very highly of her leadership and vision. We on the STTI Board look forward to hearing from you. Thank you. Emily Hitchens |
Induction 2007: We have 484 potential new members from five campuses.
