Letter From the President August 2006
The primary goal of our website is to reach as many of our 1605 active members as possible, so that you can all participate in more ways than paying dues! Our Administrative Assistant to the chapter, Pamela Carter, sent out an email announcement to as many of you as were listed with an email address on our directory. If some of your colleagues mention to you that they got an email and you did not . . . just send a note to hitchens@spu.edu and we can surely rectify that gap. In this ‘edition’ you will see the current minutes of the board meeting and the meeting schedule for the coming year. Currently, we are planning to participate in the Evidenced Based Practice Conference in early winter; Elizabeth Bridges, VP for Programs from the University of Washington is facilitating this venture. We had excellent recognition and participation last year. The 2007 Induction Ceremony will be held at the University of Washington on May 6th. This is a change from the SeaTac Marriott and we look forward to being on a university campus. Last year we sponsored a couple of walkers for NAMI of Greater Seattle, the nation walks for mental health. We hope to walk this year in another health event. It is a good way to get acquainted and get some exercise as well. In the last two years, STTI has changed its structure. Instead of having many standing committees, we have a number of Task Forces. The idea is that participation most likely would increase across the membership if members knew that there was an end point in site. We have openings on these Task Forces. If you are interested in serving, please contact the chairperson listed:
We look forward to your participation during the year. Please contact us and indicate your interest or share your ideas for activities.
